Beat Rookie

Rookie starts at a beatable level and climbs one tier every time you win, dropping back down a tier if you lose — a plain win/loss ladder with no hidden rating math, so what you see is exactly what you're playing against. It runs entirely in your browser using Stockfish's own strength-limiting settings, not a separate weaker engine, which is why it still plays like real chess rather than making random bad moves to stay easy.

This is meant as a practice partner, not a competitive ladder — there's no rating attached to it and nothing here affects your real Chess.com or Lichess rating. Play as White or Black, and if you lose, the button under the board offers an immediate rematch at the tier you just played, tougher only if you actually won.
